On the market for a bank account

Reviewing my past year’s experience with my current bank (which I won’t name… wait a minute, why not? it’s Banca Popolare di Milano) I decided I am putting the account up for review.

BPM has been given the opportunity to pitch, but so any other bank. Here is my essentials.

1. I offer a current significant positive balance
2. I offer a sterling credit rating
3. I want a forfait scheme with fixed expenses including at least 300 transactions per year
4. I want a good “positive rate” (remuneration rate for my deposit) guaranteed not to change for a year
5. I want a good home banking system, allowing me to do at least queries, domestic and foreign wires, payment of taxes, and whether cheques have been cashed or not
6. I would like a “balance as of xxx date” feature on the home banking

On the market: a new category

Like any consumer, I often feel I am being shafted by my bank, by the telephone company, by the government, by my credit card company, by a number of people who sell me goods or services for which I am not a shrewd buyer.

A previous adventure demonstrated that sometimes you wails can be heard, and this makes me happy; so happy I want to try again, and to do so I will post under this category (and collect also here) a description of products or services I am on the market for as well as my selection criteria. Who knows, some marketer slightly less brain-dead than average might see this and actually come forward with an interesting offer…
