Tools
Roger at C&M (link in Worthy Blogs) has a good post on tools to search and monitor information.
These (to which I’d add Cuil, more on potential than in actual usefulness so far) demonstrate that the field for data collection and monitoring is crowding by the minute, which is good as it will drive more end user functionality; hopefully at least some of these will make into maturity (before VC money dries up, that is), for example spawning platform-specific search, or language or date filters, areas where Google still holds a signiicant competitive advantage.
This anyway means that Social Media marketing will need to be much more than data collection, however smart: namely, it will need the ability to turn all of this information into actionable insight, things that will make a difference to a client’s brand.
