v21
New firmware version (v21) released by Nokia for the N95 classic. Apparently does good things to standby time (a good roundup here), so I go ahead and update.
This is my first firmware update done through a VM, but everything goes smoothly – hadn’t thought of this as another reason to keep my VM alive, but apparently Nokia has no intention to release a version of its software updater for the Mac, so I’m stuck.
Of course a firmware update means you lose all your data, but I’m not too worried as it’s all backed up.
It also means you lose all your installed apps, and this is a tad more disturbing, but a good opportunity to evaluate the ones I really need which, after close inspection, turn out to be Gmail, Google Maps and ShoZu.
Everything fine except Google Maps won’t install – maybe they haven’t updated it to make it compatible with v21 of the Nokia firmware, so I’ll try again in a few days.
